Long ago the castle and its great treasures belonged to three sisters, the youngest of whom was blind. The elder two tried to cheat her when dividing the wealth, but both suddenly died, carried off by the devil. The youngest unexpectedly became owner of the entire estate and treasure. Years later she sealed all the treasures in underground caverns and had their golden keys and a golden cross thrown into the spring below the hill, thereafter called Cross Spring. As soon as the keys vanished in the water, she died. Since then the Blind Queen, as folk legend calls her, sits inside the hill beside her treasures. Only around Christmas dawn Mass does she walk around the deserted castle, dressed half in white and half in black. The keys remain in Cross Spring, floating to the surface only in Holy Week. Only a pure young man could win the treasure and release her. On Good Friday the castle hill opens, granting access. A version is also told of a woman who entered during the Passion, forgot her child inside and could see it again only a year later.
