A place known as the Giants’ Hillfort once stood on a ridge extending from Boubín; according to legend, it sank into the ground. Precious treasures are hidden within Boubín. An eternal fire smoulders here, lighting halls filled with precious stones, gold and silver. The treasures are guarded by a nine-headed fire-breathing dragon, or a gigantic three-headed dog with fire shooting from its mouths. Another legend says that a royal lion and its cubs tend the treasures. A deep underground passage is also said to lead from Boubín to the summit of neighbouring Bobík, which likewise conceals precious treasures. An enormous black dog with fiery eyes and a glowing tongue runs through the passage. Anyone who looks at it supposedly turns to stone.
