Every midnight clattering and groans come from the rocks below Kokořín. A maiden's ghost appears in the castle wiping a bloodstain from a wall. A long, bloody tale explains it: a girl from a nearby mill, her parents and a cruel castle robber. He first killed her father, then imprisoned and later killed her mother, intending to violate the girl. With her mother's help she escaped and summoned reinforcements from Mělník. The robbers were eventually captured, and the maiden cut off their leader's head with a knife.
