North above Velké Karlovice lies a lake, supposedly once larger than it is today, associated with many local legends. Dragons, for example, were born and lived in it. With a local smallholder's help, a sorcerer managed to lead them out and fly away with them to distant lands. A large ditch beside the lake was dug by the Devil when he tried to divert the water uphill to a mill built on Radhošť. The boulders scattered around bear marks of his claws and impressions of the chains with which he bound them.
