In 1837, in the middle of the harvest, two men arrived in Tuchoraz by carriage. They hired a local mason and, with him and the farm steward, climbed into the tower attic. Beneath the beams they had an opening broken through and lifted out a chest. They immediately carried the heavy load to the carriage and left. Despite every effort to find them, they were never traced. They supposedly took away part of the Smiřický family's ancient treasure.
