Tepenec (Karlspurg) - Hrad · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Robber Knight's Footprint

At the edge of the Nízký Jeseník range, on a mountain of the same name, stand the remains of a mighty castle whose outer wall is more than a kilometre long. It is said that during the reading of the Passion the mountain opens and the great treasures of the robber knight Jindřich of Nevojice can be seen in the castle cellars. A precious golden bell once belonged to the castle, supposedly thrown into the well by its besieged defenders and buried. Some treasure hunters knew where the well was and dug there, but in vain. A horseshoe-shaped impression, as though carved into the rock below the castle, is still shown today. The robber lord supposedly left it while fleeing the besieged castle on horseback.
