Legend says the local castle, of which only its Gothic church survives, belonged to the Templars, who walled up a treasure underground. They supposedly brought statues of twelve golden apostles from eastern lands and forced several labourers to bury them in the cellar, then sealed up the workers with the treasure. Their souls find no peace and must guard the gold. The Templars later tried to move it, but died horribly fleeing the enraged souls of the entombed labourers. Another version says the Jesuits later moved the statues to the underground parts of Valdice monastery and buried them there. (See Valdice.)
