According to local tradition, a golden hen and her chicks lie submerged in the pool. At Easter, especially during the reading of the Passion, her call and the chicks’ cheeping can be heard. On summer nights bluish flames appear above the water over the treasure’s resting place. It is said the golden hen can be recovered only on the eve of St John’s Day. In another legend the hen came from a Swedish general’s loot and was taken from him by local people. They killed the Swede and hid the hen and golden chicks in their pond. The Swedish army took cruel revenge but never found the treasure.
