Libochovany · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Devil’s Claw

At Hrádek above Libochovany, the devil is said to have built a bridge during the night, but failed to finish before the morning rooster crowed. People still point out the last boulder he had no time to carry away, bearing the imprint of his claws: the so-called Devil’s Claw. The overgrown gneiss boulder is also called the Devil’s Rock. Mysterious incisions cover its north-facing surface.
