Two kilometres north of Blatnice rises the hill of St Anthony, sv. Antonínek (350 m). This elongated mound is the westernmost spur of the White Carpathians. The church of St Anthony of Padua on its summit was a famous pilgrimage site in the region. According to legend, the Slavic missionaries Cyril and Methodius stopped here on their way from Nitra to Velehrad. They destroyed the local pagan sanctuary and baptised people with water from a spring that still exists. Miraculous powers were once attributed to its water.
