Above Klášterec on the road to České Petrovice rises the Devil's Rock, with several hoofprints. Several variants of widespread legends explain it. In one, the devil tempted a priest and wagered he could carry the rock uphill before the priest finished mass. He rolled it up, but during the Gospel it rolled down again. Seeing he would not finish in time, he angrily pressed his claws into it. Another version has a wager with a cobbler: the devil would bridge the valley before the cobbler made shoes, both finishing before the third cockcrow. The cobbler worked slowly and the devil quickly. Only the final stone remained when the cock crowed a third time. The devil hurled it against the bridge in rage, bringing it down. The stone remained, still bearing his marks.
