The village takes its name from the monastery of the Canons of the Holy Cross founded here around 1260. Legend says the Templars originally founded it. It disappeared in the Hussite wars. Monastic treasures are said to be buried near the Gothic church. Beside the ossuary by the gate towards Kněžství, a golden hen with twelve chicks is supposedly hidden in a cellar, symbolising Christ and the twelve apostles. Graves occasionally revealed the monastery foundations, but only stone vaults and walls were found.
