West of Horní Maršov, on the slopes of the Krkonoše foothills above Temný Důl, lie remains of Helfenštejn Castle, or Hrádek. Local legend calls it a robbers’ castle. After their deaths, a giant barrel appeared underground, from which the knights’ ghosts poured wine. A young maid living in Maršov in 1614 supposedly visited the ruins, entered the ghostly underground banqueting hall and witnessed the spirits’ revels.
