Dyleň (940 m), on the border, is an ancient sacred mountain of the Cheb region. Many legends of dwarfs living in its rocks and caves recall its mysterious past. A great town supposedly once stood here and sank into the earth because of its inhabitants’ sinful lives. Another tale says an old Romani man cursed it after being caught stealing and sentenced to death. Every Palm Sunday, a gate opens into the mountain, revealing the sunken town bustling with life. Someone born on a Sunday may enter and take from the treasures guarded by dwarfs. Another legend places an enchanted princess here guarding her wedding jewels. Once a year she leaves the mountain and calls any young man she sees towards her. She supposedly richly rewards the just, but leads the wicked into the mountain, from which there is no return.
