In the woods beneath Šedina hill between Chlum and Doksy rises a sandstone mass called the Devil’s Rock. People say that a miserly farmer from Chlum once passed here returning from market in Doksy. As they travelled through the woods, noon was ringing and the farmhand stopped to pray. The farmer shouted at him to drive on to all the devils. At once the horses rushed towards the rock, which swallowed them, the wagon and the farmer. It has been called the Devil’s Rock ever since, and the wagon ruts leading to it can still be seen.
