Above the Otava stands the early Gothic Church of St Anne from the second half of the thirteenth century. Pilgrimages once came on her feast day. A secret escape passage supposedly leads from Zvíkov beneath it, hiding treasures guarded by two dogs with fiery eyes. Rafters on the Otava once saw an illuminated cave in the rock below the church. They landed and went to search for it, but one slipped and swore. A huge black dog suddenly appeared, baring its teeth, and the cave vanished. Terrified, they fled to their rafts and sailed away. The cave supposedly has never opened since. Another legend says its treasure is vital to the homeland. When Bohemia faces its worst hour, the Blaník knights will defeat its enemies and then recover these riches.
