The book describes Radouš as one of the most distinctive individual figures in Czech legends. He is usually depicted with donkey’s ears, a goatee and crooked teeth. At Radyně he is said to appear with a wheelbarrow full of axle grease, guarding his own treasure; the figure is also associated with storms and older symbolism of the landscape.
Where it appears
The Plzeň region and Radyně Castle.
What the old legends say
Radouš usually guards his own treasure and places at Radyně. Legends therefore advise people not to take the treasure or mock the spirit, and to leave the castle surroundings quickly during a storm or other warning. No particular protective object is consistently associated with him.
