Mariánská skála hill rises within the town. In earlier times, the once-famous Podskalské wine was grown on its slopes. A large cave supposedly runs through the hill as far as the village of Stříbrník, whose name comes from its former wealth of silver. Once a year, on Palm Sunday, the cave opens. It is full of enormous treasures guarded by dwarfs. A version of the legend tells of a poor woman who, dazzled by the treasure on Palm Sunday, forgot her child in the cave and saw it again only a year later. She found it playing with a company of grey-bearded dwarfs, who wailed in sorrow when she took the child away.
