From the beginning of the seventeenth century, the Vchynský, or Kinský, family left its mark on the history of both the château and the town. Among other features, the ornamental garden by the château contained a summerhouse called Kolostuj's Turrets, an aviary, a covered passage and a counterpart to the grotto in Prague's Wallenstein Palace. A little room in the château attic was called the Goldsmith's Workshop and had a goldsmith's hearth. There was another goldsmith's workshop in the old château, which should be understood to mean that both were alchemical laboratories. An alchemical laboratory supposedly already existed in the sixteenth century in the house called Morava on Zámecké Square, built by Jakoubek of Vřesovice. The names of the alchemists who worked here are not known.
