A great festival is held here on the day before Ascension, commemorating events from the time of the Tatar invasions. The local inhabitants fled from the Tatars to Kotouč mountain and were besieged, but a violent downpour drowned the invaders. In memory of this event, and of the fact that the Tatars cut the ears and hands off captured or slain warriors, unusual pastries called 'Tatar ears' and 'Tatar hands' are baked and sold here.
