In the Humprecht deer park, beside the path from the gamekeeper’s lodge towards the road to Kost, stands a timber-lined spring. At its bottom, in lead chests, lies a treasure hidden there by the lady of Humprecht after her husband’s death. Since then a snake with a little golden crown on its head has occasionally basked here. Few people see it, however, for it disappears into the spring at the first sound of human footsteps. When the rightful descendant comes, knowing the spring’s whole secret, and calls out the correct incantation to the snake, it will place its crown at the person’s feet and the spring will yield the treasure.
