A black dragon is walled into the chateau tower. It supposedly turned to stone here when a courageous maiden stole the little golden crown from its head. According to legend, Smečno chateau was built with the money obtained from selling the dragon’s crown. Its lair was cleared away and a fortified manor named Martinice was established on the site.
