Only rooms hewn into sandstone survive from the castle today. One remarkable feature is a pear-shaped starvation dungeon hollowed out of the rock. Its walls are covered with inscriptions and reliefs once carved by prisoners. After 1680 hermits lived at Sloup. They, and particularly the first of them, Konstantin, excavated and altered the rock chambers, giving them their present appearance. Among other things, they carved niches for the Stations of the Cross. Hermits remained at the castle until 1785. In the so-called Armoury, a chamber entirely cut into the rock, one can see old shallow reliefs: a lion behind bars on the right and a lurking lion on the left. These carvings have received various interpretations and have even been attributed to the Templars.
