This difficult-to-reach castle stood above the Brtnice stream and was also called Rokštejn or Rutenštejn. A great treasure is said to be hidden in its ruins. A large black dog guards it, and it can be recovered only on Palm Sunday or Good Friday. A local tale tells of a maid who reached the treasure at Easter and took some from it three times. Many later treasure hunters tried unsuccessfully to recover it and contributed considerably to the castle’s destruction.
