An opening covered by a metal hatch in the castle gateway is said to lead to an underground passage. According to local legend, the passage runs all the way to Třemšín. Through the opening one can descend into a vaulted underground room beneath the gate, which may once have served as a dungeon into which offenders were lowered for short periods. (See Třemšín.)
