According to legend, the Devil built the local castle but was ordered to finish before the rooster’s first morning crow. He carried stones from Oslednice near Telč. Just as he lifted the final boulder, the rooster crowed. In fury he threw it into a nearby pond, where it remains today, and dug a great horse-hoof-shaped print into a rock, since called the Devil’s Footprint.
