Rejvíz · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Sunken Town

A rich pagan town called Hunstadt, the Town of the Huns, supposedly once stood near Rejvíz and sank because of its inhabitants’ sins. Even today, in bright sunshine, its walls and church tower can reportedly be seen in both moss lakes, now a state nature reserve. A loud rumbling is sometimes heard from the Great Moss Lake. It contains the sunken town’s treasures, guarded by the spirit Hohohé. (See Jeseník.)
