At the corner of Náměstí 4. apríla and Zelená Street once stood a four-storey, tower-shaped building called the Burg, supposedly the source of Bratislava’s German name Pressburg. In olden days, when enemy raids threatened the town, twelve councillors met there and spent whole nights debating how to save it. The councillors were killed during a siege, and their ghosts appeared there ever afterwards. They continued to meet at night and took revenge on anyone who dared disturb their deliberations. The Burg was demolished in 1883, and a three-storey building has stood in its place ever since. Whether it is haunted is unknown.
