Near Oslavany is a hill called Za klášterem, “Behind the Convent”. Its many boulders are called the Petrified Flock. Legend says a stepmother enchanted a shepherd boy and his sheep. His face can still be seen in one stone; those around it are the sheep. Another version identifies them as nuns from Oslavany convent who fled troops onto the hill. They prayed to turn to stone rather than fall into the soldiers’ hands. As one can see, their wish was granted.

Oslavany: the flock that fell silent forever—and another legend hidden in the stones
In the boulders on Za klášterem Hill, people saw a shepherd boy with sheep. Another tale found fleeing nuns there. One place, two utterly different fates.
