A royal castle founded in the mid-13th century on a promontory above the Berounka was rebuilt as a Baroque château in the 18th century. A black-clad man’s ghost appeared here, allegedly a cruel owner who killed victims and threw them into the river. The ghost of a murdered scribe also appeared, carrying bread in one hand and a jug of water in the other. Only someone who cuts a piece from his bread can release him, but must pay for that release with their life.
