The local lord, Jan Šmádlo Kounický of Ritterstein, owned a manor farm in the village. It occupied the site of today’s houses nos. 37 and 55, still called Ve dvoře, “At the Court”. Extensive cellars also survive, now partly walled up. Local tradition says Lord Šmádlo signed a pact with the devil. Many legends are told about him. He was supposedly a sorcerer in life, and his ghost appeared here after death.
