The Baroque corner house U Kněžáků on the square, no. 51, was once a convent. It has barred windows and statues of St Joseph and St John of Nepomuk in niches. Twice a year, on the nights before these saints’ feast days, lights illuminate the entire house at midnight and three knocks sound in the dark cellar. The walls then part and a ghostly procession of nuns emerges. They keep an ornate golden cross in the woodshed; carrying it, the procession goes to church with the façade statues, now come to life. An hour later they return and disappear into the cellar.
