An ancient legend says that around the 7th century a Slavic tribe established a sacrificial ground for its pagan gods on the site of present-day Staré Město near Moravská Třebová. It was called Třebi, and gave its name to the settlement, later Stará Třebová, the predecessor of today’s town.
