Near Mníšek, in Nová Ves pod Pleší, a golden horse once appeared grazing in a meadow. One day the villagers hunted it. The horse retreated to Plešivec hill and disappeared inside. They began digging and found a cave with the golden horse. Frightened by the intruders, it hid its head and forequarters in an opening. Flushed with success, the men seized its tail and pulled with all their strength. But it kicked, a flash blazed, and the whole rock collapsed, burying everyone. The golden horse has not appeared since, although the gold remains in Plešivec. This is an interesting variant of a mining legend from the period when gold was extracted here. The entrance to the Golden Adit survives as a reminder.
