Along one side of Vožice stretches a hill called Hrad, “Castle”. On the side facing the stream, a large fissure formed by contraction of the gneiss rocks is visible, called the Devil’s Oven. Long ago, when the castle still stood, its young owner supposedly escaped through this cave towards Stará Vožice or Šelmberk; thieves also hid their loot there. The chancel of the Hradní Chapel contains the Khuenburg counts’ tomb. A deep cellar allegedly extended from it beneath Vožice. Everything is now filled in.
