The legend tells of a fierce maiden who would marry only a man able to turn his horse three times on a narrow rock above the deep Lovětín Gorge. Many knights died there. Finally one suitor met the condition, but only to avenge the dead: immediately afterwards he shot the maiden. Ever since, the ghost of the unfortunate maiden of Lichnice has roamed the castle, weeping, and the site of the legendary drama is still called Maiden’s Rock. Going down to Podhradí, one finds the rock associated with the tale. Its top is flat, with a groove shaped like a horseshoe in the middle.
