The Dragon’s Rock

In the hills above the village, by Brandemburský potok, stands a small rock where, according to legend, a dragon once lived. A shepherd grazed his flock at a place called Na bažině, and the dragon was said often to crawl up and swallow a sheep. People only rid themselves of it by using a recipe known elsewhere too: they killed a calf, stuffed it with quicklime and fed it to the dragon. When it then drank water, it burst.
