The Baroque Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross preserves a stone vault arch dating from after 1260, with a lion relief known as the Levín Tomcat. Obscure letters scattered around it have provoked a long-standing debate over their meaning. One theory sees an Old Church Slavonic Cyrillic inscription meaning “Christ forever victorious”, with the lion symbolising Christ. Other interpretations have identified Germanic runes, Celtic writing and so on.
