According to legend, treasure is hidden in the border castle of Landek, which once stood on a hill directly opposite the confluence of the Odra and Ostravice. It was already abandoned around 1517, and its remains are now barely visible in the terrain. A story tells of a shepherd boy whose sheep strayed into a secret castle cellar; searching for it, he discovered part of a great treasure. North of Ostrava, beside the road to Bohumín and near Landek, rises a steep hill called Mundloch. In German mining terminology, Mündung meant the mouth of an adit or shaft. Several legends are told about the hill. Treasures are allegedly buried here; lights appear every Wednesday and Friday, as do the ghosts of ancient knights.
