Southeast of Kunovice-Loučka railway station, on a small platform on a mountain ridge, lies a sandstone boulder about four metres high, called the Devil’s Stone (623 m). Its vertical face has a hollow that looks as if claws pressed it into the rock. According to local legend, an evil knight once lived at Šaumburk Castle above Podhradní Lhota. Returning from a lost war, he discovered that his subjects had meanwhile demolished his castle. He therefore signed himself over to the devil and demanded a new residence in a single night. The devil built quickly, but just as he was carrying the last stone, a rooster crowed. In anger the fiend hurled the boulder onto the mountain ridge, where it still lies. (See Podhradní Lhota.)
