Southwest of town above Slavík farm rises Koukolová hora (470 m), once owned by the Koukol family of Popovice. One supposedly cursed his serfs and was severely punished: a storm destroyed his manor and the family became boulders scattered over the hill, large ones the men and women and small ones the children. Their tombstones can be seen at St George's church in Tmaň. Another version places an arrogant knight at Kotýz castle, a lower spur of Zlatý kůň towards the Suchomasty valley. He killed an innocent girl who accidentally crossed his path. Her spirit then appeared at Kotýz and Koukolová hora and later turned his dissolute followers into the huge boulders still visible.
