On Klenovský Vepor mountain (1338 m) there is supposedly a hall where Jánošík once feasted with his band. A golden duck hangs from the ceiling, and tears fall from its eyes, forming the source of the Rimava river. Jánošík's treasure is hidden in the summit crag, guarded by a priest said to be his spirit, appearing every seven years. Another version gives the guardian as a great black dog with fiery eyes. Each St John's Day the crag opens with an enormous crash and a burst of flame, after which anyone bold enough may enter. A ‘bottomless’ spring also lies on the mountain. Jánošík supposedly threw the key to his treasures into it, but only someone born at Midsummer midnight and searching on that same night can find it.
