Karlštejn castle once stood above the Doubický stream on a steep rocky spur of Spravedlnost hill. A deep pit of unknown purpose and origin is cut into the sandstone, with an opening resembling a window in its outer wall. These features prompted legends of underground chambers beneath the castle, holding treasures amassed by robber bands hiding there. According to F. A. Heber, people from Chřibská once searched eagerly for them. (See Chřibská.)
