Kaltenštejn (Hradisko) - Hrad · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

From black cat to White Lady

Many legends surround the ruins of the castle also called the Bishop's Mitre because of its shape. One tells of an evil countess who haunts it after death as a black cat. At noon she becomes a White Lady with a screaming infant on her lap. She must rock it constantly, however much her arms hurt. Other accounts speak of great treasures once buried here, sought unsuccessfully even in the previous century.
