A golden mare supposedly appeared in especially rich mines. Anyone seeking wealth could cut off only her hindquarters and had to leave the front intact. A proud lady once lived in Jílové and owned a mine. She ordered her miners to cut off the mare's head instead of its rear when they saw it, hoping to gain the whole treasure and become the kingdom's richest woman. They obeyed, but the instant they struck its head the mare vanished and never returned. This mining legend has a clear initiatory meaning; variants are told in many gold- and silver-mining places.
