North of the town rises wooded Rudný hill (613 m), a focus of many old legends. A castle supposedly once stood on it. At night a White Lady appears, and fabulous treasures lie buried underground, guarded by dwarfs and their king. One version tells of a woman who came with a child and had to leave it inside the hill for a whole year. The White Lady also appeared in Damli west of Jihlava. Many treasures were said to lie nearby, marked on certain nights by blue flames, for example at Nový Rounek west of Jihlava. At Starý Rounek on the Jihlava river stands the so-called Hell Mill, where devils have supposedly gathered since ancient times.
