Jihlava · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The fiery Swede

On winter nights a fiery rider wanders the town. He always stops in the moat and laments; then a bullet whistles and the ghost falls, reliving his death each night. He is said to be the spirit of Swedish general Samuel Österling, who once killed a man and fled justice. People claimed he was a fext, immune to ordinary bullets. According to legend a girl finally shot him with a glass ball cast for her pistol.
