Local tradition holds that the mythical Moravian hero Margrave Ječmínek was born here in a barley field at a place called Markrabina. He also appeared at the local château, where the chair and table he used are still shown. In the dining room stands Ječmínek's Table; knock on it at midnight, people say, and Ječmínek will answer. Once a year he arrives wearing a cloak of invisibility, sits at the table and feasts. The table supposedly used to be kept ready for him. In Moravia it is said that golden times will begin when Ječmínek appears. Markrabina is also the name of the path along which the unhappy lady expelled from Chropyně château ran. Both field and path are surrounded by local legends. Ječmínek appears here, always at night, usually reading a book while a supernatural light shines from his chest. A mythical army is also said to hide beneath Markrabina, ready to help the country in bad times.
