Between the ruins of Orlík and the Jewish cemetery near Humpolec stand two isolated rocks. The taller, more accessible one is called Čertovka, the Devil's Rock; the other, harder to reach, is Andělka. According to legend the devil settled on the higher rock and wreaked havoc throughout the region. God took pity, and a new rock, Andělka, arose opposite Satan's dwelling. From then on the fiend had to fight frequent skirmishes with angels until he was defeated. In fury he struck the rock with his foot, and the mark of his hoof can still be seen. A pilgrims' chapel stands nearby.
