According to a local legend, the ghost of one of the town's regents, Jakub Veltruský, had to ride around the town at night after his death because he had not received the last sacrament. He could always be heard repeating the last words of the priest that he had heard before dying: ‘…et in saecula saeculorum.’ Only many years later was he supposedly released by a local resident who, on meeting the apparition, supplied the missing ‘Amen’.
